Let Us Pray - Part One (Gaining Mastery In Prayer) by Apostle Selman

Revelation 5:1-14 (KJV)

Some of the sounds we sing that never die, originate from a certain frequency.
If the song strikes a chord in our spirit, it means that the song is not from here. We feel the atmosphere of heaven when these songs are echoed and we feel the throne room experience, due to how synced we are.

That process of obtaining the songs is in ‘Ascension’. Ascension is a levitative frequency, likened to resonance, where you’re in tune with the frequency of heaven – The key is to stay and worship. After a while in worship, you connect with something that heaven is doing.

Growth in the spirit is a product of consistency.
When you are consistent with the practice of God’s presence, the business of prayer, the word and corporate fellowship, inevitably, you will grow.

“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Acts 2:42 (KJV)
You don’t do anything once in a while, with the aim of continuous growth.

When you find someone who is robust in the spirit, it is not a one-time immersion in the things of the spirit that birthed that state; it is a result of constant dwelling in His presence.

“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”
Acts 6:4 (KJV)
There are a number of the things that begin to find expression in a Believer’s life, when we are consistent with the things of The Spirit:
1. Utterance – a gift of The Spirit that is birthed from a healthy spiritual life.
2. Divine wisdom
3. Visions

When we come to the house of God, participate in every part of the service. Do not engage in only one part, and then ignore the rest.
It takes time to stay (Qavah) – similar to the incubation of the chicken on her eggs. Most of the graces we encounter in God’s presence is a product of ‘Qavah’.

The glory of God is always connected to divine patterns. God’s glory desires to be manifest upon the face of the earth, but the way it works is that there must be an adherence to divine patterns.
The glory of God is the compendium of all the components in Him that makes Him God.

If you desire to walk in more of God’s glory, you don’t just ask for it.
You must find the pattern connected to that glory you desire.

God’s glory expressed as increase, wisdom, kingdom-wealth, longevity of life, favour, are connected to exact patterns, that if followed, will yield the commensurate results.

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18 (KJV)

When you really want to become a blessing, stay in God’s presence and carry the weight of His glory.

When you really want to be a blessing, stay and carry the glory of God. Answers come to you easily when you carry God’s glory. Humans carry glory in weights.

A defiance of divine patterns will lead to failure.
Every Worship Service is an opportunity to carry a greater weight of glory. At times, the process may feel slow, but when you return to where you once struggled, you realize that what was once difficult has become easy, because of the weight of glory you now carry.

An ever-increasing effulgence of God’s glory in our daily life, is a testament of our transformation.
The primary difference amongst men, is the weight of God that they have permitted to rest upon them through their personal press into God.

Pray: Father, more of Your glory in my life. I now see the reason why my fears and doubts are still present.
Tonight, I yearn and desire for more of Your glory, in tonight’s service.

“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving”
Colossians 4:2 (KJV)

The primary aim of this teaching is to show the efficacy of prayer in a Believer’s life.

The idea of prayer is at the fabric of what we term “spirituality”.
Prayer is one of the indices that define spirituality across territories and religions.
This is why it is important to understand the subject of prayer.

Prayer in its essence has to do with communion, fellowship, worship and communication.
It is essentially seen as a way of communicating with God.

When we deal with the subject of God in the Christian faith, He is not an abstract concept.

God can be known and He has a personality that can be studied. We know God by studying:
1. His nature
2. His wisdom
3. His power.

Essentially, prayer has a four-fold assignment:
1. The transformation and growth of The Believer.
(Luke 9:29)
2. It is an authorised platform/channel for making requests, petitions and obtaining promises. (Mark 11:24, Matthew 7:7, Philippians 4:6)
3. It is for creation and spiritual legislation.
(Genesis 1:28, Ecclesiastes 8:4, Romans 3:4, Genesis 1:1-3)
4. It provides a platform for warfare and preservation.

Understanding God: The Threefold Model of Knowing Him.
While there is no end to understanding God, the Bible provides us with a clear template for knowing Him. Scripture reveals that we know God through a threefold approach:
1. Knowing God Through His Nature

We know God by studying His nature. To the degree that you understand the nature of God, you have entered into a functional knowledge of Him.
Understanding Who God is, His character, His holiness, His love, His faithfulness, forms the foundation of our relationship with Him.

2. Knowing God Through His Wisdom
Secondly, we know God by exploring His wisdom. God is the fountain of wisdom. When we study His works and His dealings with humans, we gain insight into His wisdom and, by extension, deeper knowledge of Him. His wisdom determines the boundaries and framework of our lives.

3. Knowing God Through His Power:
Thirdly, we know God by studying His power. In Ephesians 1:19, Paul prayed for the church in Ephesus that they would come to know “the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe”. This is the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

I pray for you: you will not be silent when you should be speaking!

Prayer is not the only key in the kingdom. However, where prayer is not the key, it becomes the hand that holds the key

What causes struggle in prayer is due to the human nature being driven by a reason to do something.

The reason many people have an epileptic prayer-life is because it is born out of the guilt of not praying; whereas the accurate way of praying should be to be shown the treasures that are derived from a rich and accurate prayer-life.

Everything prayer is for the profit of the Believer, including giving God praise and worship.

One of the attributes of God is that He is self-existent. This means He does not need anyone or anything to sustain Himself.

When a Believer soaks themselves in the presence of God through prayer, it is a beckoning to heaven saying: “Come” (Maranatha).

To address Leaders: Do not become so full of yourself or so busy that you fail to entrust your people with responsibility.

Delegate the work, and guard your prayer-life. Trust others to handle tasks while you stay connected to God through prayer. An attack on your fellowship with God is an attack on your life.

No matter how great you become in life, create systems that protect your time of fellowship with God.

No man is unnecessarily special by default. What makes a person special is what rests upon them.

The earth is full of selfish people who do not really care about you. It is what is on you (the engracing) and what they can benefit from it, that draws them to you.

Therefore, protect the oil. Protect the grace. Protect the presence of God. That is what sustains your relevance and your impact. (Isaiah 60:3)

Whatever you can do in righteousness, do it to protect the presence of God.

The world is full of “ex” people: ex-great men, ex-celebrities, individuals who were once celebrated and then suddenly faded into irrelevance.

History is filled with the deception of human applause. Therefore, you must learn how to manage both the applause and the criticism of people. Very few people will stand with you consistently, regardless of circumstances.

When it is said that a Believer has passion for God, there are clear indices by which that passion can be gauged:

Passion always has time to give. One of the clearest signs that passion is fading is the constant excuse of “lack of time.” True passion rearranges priorities and intentionally creates room for what matters.

What Prayer Accomplishes in the Life of a Believer and Territory:
Prayer when done accurately affects an individual, extending to your family and then extends to territories.
1. Prayer creates the platform for communion and fellowship with God, deepening the Believer’s relationship with God.
(James 4:8, Psalm 145:18, John 14:21,23
2. Prayer provides a platform for the Believer to encounter the refining and transforming power of God.
(2 Corinthians 3:18, Psalm 51:10

When people cry “Hosanna”, they may give you a donkey and spread their clothes in honor, like they did for Jesus. Yet the same voices can later say at the cross, “You saved others, yet yourself you are unable to save”.

You are not the first to bless people only to be ignored, mocked, or abandoned by them. In this vile and wicked world, the presence of God is your true saving grace.

There is something called the Refiner’s Fire. The assignment of the refining process is to purify and also to create other components out of it.

When you submit yourself to the transforming power of prayer, the first thing it does is transform your character. Becoming like Jesus Christ is the first assignment of God’s life (Zoe) in you.

You must submit yourself to the Refiner’s fire and the transforming power of God in the place of prayer. This submission is a conscious act, and your level of consciousness largely determines the outcome of your prayer.

You can pray for many years – receiving answers and blessings – yet remain unchanged because you never yielded yourself to the transforming work of God through prayer.

The first, tangible proof that you met God, is a major alteration to your character.

God refines and purges the dross in the Believer when submitted to the transforming power of prayer; the tendencies that can destroy you.
However, you can pray without allowing it to transform you; you might pray simply to receive from God.

It is your consciousness in the place of prayer that determines your actions and the results you receive.

One of the greatest needs of the Church today is not more power, but that we become like Christ.

There are different chambers in the spirit – the prophetic chamber, the refinery where men are transformed, the chamber where answers are released etc.

Just because you prayed does not automatically imply you reached all the chambers nor that you were changed by prayer.

Everyone on earth (regardless of whether or not they are Believers) is looking for God in people.

They call it a “god-fearing husband”, an “excellent employee”, a “well-behaved wife”.

When you are praying to be changed and more Christlike, there are things you no longer pray to receive, because your changed nature automatically attracts and qualifies you to receive them.

You must give yourself with reckless abandonment to the transforming power of God’s Word and the Refiners fire (*The part of you that the Refiners fire must touch and transform*).
Six Parts of Your Life the Refiner’s Fire Must Touch
1. Your mind – affecting your thinking and perception.
2. Your eyes – affecting the things you see and what you give attention to.
3. Your ears – affecting your perception and what you allow to shape you.
4. Your tongue – affecting your words and confessions.
5. Your heart – roasting out carnal thoughts, wrong motives and hidden intentions.
6. Your hands and feet – affecting your actions, choices, movement and direction in life.

Becoming like Jesus Christ is the first assignment. There is a standard to become like Christ. We don’t get the option to be selective.

The level of the hidden anointing you are looking for is available, but will not be hosted in this version of yourself.

Tonight, someone needs to cry before God and say:
“Fix me oh Lord! Fix my mind, fix my mind, fix my motive, fix the anger! Fix me oh Lord!

Until God marks the script of your life, if you allow pride, self-righteousness to mark the script of your life, you will score an “A” whereas you are actually dying!

These vices will always make you pass the exam. But when the mighty hand of God marks your life, even while you are scoring 80, He presses you to reach for the remaining 20.

In the body of Christ, a major part of our prayer-life stems from self-righteousness and is need-driven, rather than intimacy or consecration-driven.

Even when it is consecration-driven, many of us cherry-pick the areas we want God to fix, neglecting the rest that also require His refining work. Let God be truly Lord over your life and walk you through the requisite areas needing fixing.

It is beautiful to see an individual who has allowed God to work on them. Believers ought not to select the parts preferred for transformation, whilst holding back on the others they want untouched.

God is raising a people who are holistically refined in entirety: not people who are free of lust, yet still struggling with anger.

Encounters create convictions. When we find out that our trust in God is shaking, it’s a testament of our faith in God
5 LEVELS OF FAITH:
1. No Faith,
2. Little Faith
3. Much Faith
4. Great Faith
5. Exceedingly great faith

The days we currently live in demands people who truly know God, not those who just know about God.

Prayer increases our capacity to trust God.

Prayerlessness is not just sin, it is pride.
Prayerlessness is proof of self-sufficiency, ignoring the assistance and need for God.
Take God away from the life of a person and they become a risk, even to themselves.

When you see God doing great things in the life of a man and a ministry, thank God for the man of God, but most importantly, thank The God of that man.

I can fail alone, but me and God cannot fail together! We should continually show our total dependence on God. So much so that when people see us, they’re thankful for the God working with us, before they see us.

When you understand how to call on heaven’s assistance, your life will be a sign and a wonder, first to you and then to others.

When people think they have seen the end of you, another layer emerges, consistently amazing them.

When God lifts you as a worshipper, as a business or as a career person and people ask you: “How did you get here so fast?”, you reply saying “Jehovah Nissi” – The God Who stands backing up a man.

Hold unto God’s hands, admitting your insufficiency and limitations, He will hold unto yours.
The hand of God, takes a man from the pit, through the prison, to the throne.
Go on that journey with God, then watch your life become a sign and a wonder!

We owe no-one an explanation for doing exploits, it is God’s signature upon our lives. A testament of the weight of His glory on our lives.

Anyone waiting to hear that you have gone down financially is wasting their time!

Nobody will see the end of you! Your destiny is more and more in righteousness! More and more in the spirit, in the name of Jesus!

Begin to pray in the spirit! There is a God that answers prayers. There is a God that defends people! There is a God that can empower people.
It will take a lot to fail when God is with you! You may fail on your own, but you and God cannot fail!
