Re-Defining The Blessing (The Blessing of Abraham) by Apostle Selman
Re-Defining The Blessing (The Blessing of Abraham) || Leicester-UK || Day 1 Evening Session || Apostle Selman

And so my charge for us tonight as we begin these sessions is:
1. Number one, let your hunger rise. Let your hunger rise.
The word of God produces when it meets a hungry heart.
2. Number two, let’s adopt the principle that was given to Moses.
For many years, Moses had been in Egypt. In fact, he was being prepared to be the next Pharaoh. But when he encountered the burning bush, the first instruction he was given was, “Take off your shoes.” Your shoe is a representation of your experience, your knowledge about God so far. Sometimes when you encounter him, he says, “Take it off because I’m about to show you something that may be foreign to your experience but needed for your destiny.”
I’m praying that somewhere in the course of this meeting, someone will really find grace. Someone will encounter wisdom. That mighty men and women will arise. You have invested your time.
Look beyond a man, let your eyes be on Jesus. Let your eyes be on his wisdom, his light, and he will do us good.
Can we lift up our hands in one minute and ask again that the spirit of grace will breathe upon us.
Thank you, Jesus. Speak to our hearts. Light our candles. Give us understanding. Bring us to a state of maturity and stature by the spirit. Empower us. Strengthen the body of Christ within this territory. Oh God. Let your name be glorified. Let your name be lifted.
As we grow into maturity and stature, one of the things we must learn is the value and the supremacy of the will of God. The will of God.
Now, everything in the kingdom revolves and must revolve around the will of God.
What gives value to every teaching, every desire, every pursuit is that it must be connected directly to the birthing of the will of God.
So in the kingdom when you attain unto maturity as a believer and let this also be a a great encouragement to perhaps a man of God, a woman of God that in teaching concepts in the kingdom, you have to first let the people know that nothing in the kingdom in itself profits the believer except and unless it is connected to the will of God.
So if you’re teaching healing, if you’re teaching prosperity, if you’re teaching fruitfulness, if you’re teaching advancement, it becomes vanity if left alone.
The strength of that teaching is when you can connect that pursuit, that desire to the will of God.
That means if you just want to prosper for the sake of prosperity, if you want to be healed for the sake of healing, oneself becomes the object of the pursuit then it is vanity. It holds no weight in the spirit.
What gives our pursuit its value is that it is connected to kingdom come. It is connected to the program of God. So when people understand the will of God and get to a point where they are determined to see his kingdom come and his will done, then you have no restraint in teaching them the things that equip them to do so. Healing, prosperity.
Now you can teach it with confidence knowing that you are teaching a people who are already cultured. They have an orientation that my life and everything about it must be for his glory and for his kingdom.
It is a risk to begin to explore certain dimensions of the provisions, the riches that are in Christ and to help people understand it without first connecting them to Christ, to his program, to his purposes.
What will happen is that that knowledge will become like the tree of good and evil. It number one will bring enlightenment. But with enlightenment, it will bring corruption. So you will find a people who rejoice at increase, rejoice at prosperity, but Jesus is not at the back of their joy.
They are only rejoicing because they have been better equipped to be selfish. They have been equipped. Knowledge has fortified self in them. So they rejoice because self is finding expression.
You know the Bible calls us master builders. And the Bible says that every man of God must be a wise master builder.
And you have to build according to pattern so that whilst people enjoy and receive the revelations and the blessings that follow those revelations, they don’t foil self. You bring them to a point where they realize that all of the provisions that are made available for me in Christ is not just for self-aggrandizement.
That at the end of it it is to equip me to be an effective witness and to birth the will of God everything around the kingdom.
The word gospel does not just mean good news. It is a declaration of glad tidings. But in that, according to scripture, there are seven distinct gospels.
The most popular that we know is called the gospel of salvation. It’s a declaration of the love of the father revealed in and through the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus.
But one of those gospels for our discussion tonight is the gospel of the kingdom. And although it is by the same Lord and the same spirit, the dynamics differ.
When you discuss the gospel of salvation, in that narrative, Jesus is revealed as savior. Man is revealed as a helpless personality unable to save himself by any work of the law whatsoever.
The father in the narrative of the gospel of salvation is the initiator of the process that demonstrates his love. And so man really does not do anything. Man has the privilege of watching a spectacular display of love that God so loved the world and he proved that love by giving his son and Jesus came died paid the price.
But when you now teach the gospel of salvation in that narrative, Christ is no longer savior. He is king. And the helpless personalities called men. They are no longer helpless because at that point they are saved. They are empowered.
But then there is an orientation that they sustain. They now know that God has a program. God has an agenda and that their lives must be about birthing the will of God. And it is from that standpoint that you begin to explore everything in the kingdom, prosperity, health.
So if I ask you, why do you want to be healed? I am not convinced until your explanation ends up revealing the will of God.
Why do you want to prosper? If you say, well, I’m I’m tired of suffering. Lester does not seem to open up. That’s a sincere explanation. But it is not kingdom because Christ and his will is not captured in your explanation.
Now we become a matured people not just when we have so many scriptures in our minds but when we get to a point where our wills can die so that his will is birthed. His will is revealed.
And don’t get me wrong, if you truly understand the will of God, you will know that the will of God is all about your profiting. So that it does not look like he’s such a selfish person. He says, “I know the thoughts that I think towards you.” Jeremiah 29:11, “They are thoughts of peace and not of evil to bring you a future and an expected end.”
So God is all about you. Whilst we were yet sinners, not even asking, not praying, not demanding for salvation, he went out of his way. And if he gave his son, will he not give you all things to enjoy?
Praise the name of the Lord. Someone say, “Let your will be done.”
What exactly is the will of God for man? We have to understand this.
What is the will of God?
Now, theologically speaking, there are two dimensions of God’s will.
1. Number one, there’s what we call the written will of God.
That means or the generic will of God. The will of God for all men. It is not unique to any individual.
It is every time you find a man, you can be sure that that is God’s will for that man. And it is written in scripture that God desires that all men be saved.
So for every man you see, you can be sure that preaching Christ to them is not going out of the will of God. Helping them to be part of a family that builds them spiritually. You don’t need a prophecy on that. It is the will of God.
So there is the generic or written will of God as captured in scripture. God desires for all men to come into the fullness of sunship. The Bible calls it the hope of his calling. That when he got us saved, there was an intent in his heart. That we structurally grow and attain maturity through sunship. Because an heir for as long as that heir is a child. Galatians chapter 4:1 he differeth not from a slave even though he be Lord of all.
So that even though we are saved, if we remain children, we will never be able to release the riches that are captured in the God life. Because the life we have received, manifesting the riches, the glory that is embedded in that life is knowledge dependent and maturity dependent. Knowledge dependent.
So in as much as we are saved, we have received the riches that have come from this life. It will not profit us, I tell you. And your difference, the difference between you and one who is unsaved will barely be you.
It only from a spiritual standpoint that we can really tell the difference. But as far as manifesting victory and dominion is concerned, the difference will not be there because eternal life releasing the riches that eternal life captures is knowledge dependent and maturity dependent. Praise the name of the Lord.
That means the more we press to gain knowledge, understanding and attain unto maturity, the more we are able to release that which is invested in our spirit for the nations to see and at the end of it Christ to be glorified.
John 15:8 KJV, hearing is my father glorified that ye bear much fruit. I hope you know fruitfulness is proof that the tree has become matured. A tree only becomes fruitful when it’s grown beyond a certain limit. It will be unfair for you to plant and by next week you expect you expect fruit. No, you are patient. You know the tree is growing. But then it gets to a point where you begin to see the indices that attest to the fact that growth has happened.
John 15:16, “You have not called me, but I have called you and ordained you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain.”
Number two, there is what is called the revealed will of God.
Now this is the revealed of God that the the will of God that is revealed to you on demand because your destiny will require progressive revelations of God’s will. There is a generic will that guides you but progressively your call direction that which God wants you to do part- time and per season. And you will need the revealed will of God and that’s where the Holy Spirit comes.
That the Holy Spirit is a revealer of the will of God. No man knows what is in the heart of man save the spirit that is in that man. So also no man knows what is in the heart of the father save the spirit of the father. And that the holy spirit has the exclusive right to search the mind of the Father and to reveal to the saints that which has been stored ordained for their glory. Hallelujah.
The revealed will of God. And perhaps some of you have heard me teach that in learning the will of God, there are three biblical ways.
But there are three ways to accessing the will of God:
- Number one, Scripture.
The Bible says in Luke 4 that Jesus stood up for to read and it was given to him the scroll of Isaiah and he found there where it was written concerning him.
Hebrews 10:7. Lo, I come in the volume of the book as it is written of me to do your will. Hallelujah. Praise the name of the Lord. - Number two, the revelatory ministry of the Holy Spirit.
that the Holy Spirit guides, the Holy Spirit reveals as they set themselves to pray, the Holy Ghost spoke to them. Separate me Paul and Barnabas. - Number three, the prophetic. This is how we are able to extract the will of God for our profiting.
I have spoken to you in similitudes and I’ve spoken to you in dreams all by the prophetic. The prophetic if under the influence of the word of God can produce power in that it is able to bring direction and to bring guidance. Praise the name of the Lord.
So I’m hoping that as we explore this topic, it would not just be a caral celebration of the awareness of victory, but now with this background, everything I’m about to say because we’re going to go deep into this concept of being blessed to really understand what it is. And if you do understand, it will truly change your life. And you will now appreciate this digression that has come as a disclaimer.
So that in rejoicing it tames your appetite and makes sure that your joy is only purified by its connection to the will of God. So that as you leave this place tonight, you will leave rejoicing knowing indeed that I am blessed. But you will not speak as a carnal man. You will speak as one who is enlightened.
That heaven will rejoice over your awareness of this revelation because you would now become an advantage to the kingdom. Amen.
Let’s pray in the spirit for one minute. Thank you father for wisdom. Thank you for grace. It is about your glory.
Thank you Holy Spirit. In Jesus matchless name we pray.
I rejoice in advance. Someone’s life will change. Hallelujah. Ephesians 1:1-3 KJV.
So to the saints. So if you are the saints, those saved, those who love Jesus, who are faithful in Christ Jesus, then every other thing I’ll be discussing is for you.
But now there’s an issue we need to discuss because it tells us the location that these spiritual blessings are in heavenly places and the code for access is the Christ.
So that if your life fails to capture and reveal these blessings, it does not change the fact that God has blessed you with every spiritual blessing. In heavenly places in Christ.
Genesis chapter 12. The Bible talks about a very interesting man who is very interesting because the major world religions today as we know all came out from that one man. Christianity, Judaism or and all its expressions and then Islam all came out from that one man Abraham.
And that tells you how God is. He comes to you and proposes a superior life, but he gives you the opportunity to partner with him or reject him.
The Bible says as many as received him. That means not all will receive him. Unfortunately, now the Lord said to Abraham, “Get out of your country, from your family, and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.” In verse two, it says I will make you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great
I will make your name great you can be great without your name being great Yeah. If you are great without your name being great, your greatness ends when you leave.
An individual can be great, but if your name is not great, they cannot perpetuate greatness. Nobody can come under the covering of your name.
You see, in giving inheritance, One of the things the Bible calls inheritance is a good name. That in all your giving whatever you give your children or those if you just give them physical things you really did not help them a good name to be better desired than material wealth
I will make your name great and you shall be a blessing I will bless you and you shall be a blessing verse three I will bless those who bless you Yes. And I will curse him who curses you. And in you shall the families of the earth be blessed. If that is you, say amen. Amen.
Now, generally as across the body of Christ, we use the word blessed or blessing. Bless you. We use it to greet. You know, most of that was an extract from the way the Jews salute one another. they greet shalom, peace, blessings to you and all of that.
And it was Bible culture to speak blessings. You see, Paul would begin or end his conversations, you know, with blessings and so on and so forth.
And the psalmist used that a lot. For instance, Psalm 1:1-3 LKJV, Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly who stands nor stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seat of the scornful, by the time we get to verse three he begins to describe expressions that attest to whether or not that man is blessed so you can use verse three to verify verse one if a man tells you I’m blessed and eventually you do not find the expressions in verse three. Something is wrong with his understanding or wrong with that reality.
So we use the word blessing or we use the word blessed and it’s important for us to really understand what does it mean to be blessed. When I say bless you or God bless you or you are blessed or I call you a blessing, we use it in English. We use it culturally, but for the most people, we’ve not taken out time. And I’m I’m telling you, even if you search the dictionary, it only goes so far.
So the word blessed generally speaking refers to:
- Favor
- Fruitfulness
- Advancement
- Preservation and protection.
There are many Hebrew words as you know Hebrew is a very deep word and the Bible was largely The Old Testament was largely written in Hebrew and then the the New Testament had a combination of Greek, Aramaic and you know here and there you would find other expressions Latin and all of that but largely it’s believed and agreed that the Old Testament was largely composed of Hebrew whilst the New Testament had a lot of Greek expressions.
And so the word blessing really uh there are many words but I want to select just one is the word barak The word blessing is the word barak. There are other expressions like asha. There are other expressions like baraka that talks about being a blessing. You say blessed.
But generally the word barak the root word barak has to do with stooping down, kneeling down and communicating honor.
So when we talk about the word blessing as the word of blessed barak the Hebrew word it gives an expression of going down on your knees bowing down and and communicating honor.
Now you can extend that word to mean kneeling down, stooping down in respect and then giving someone a gift, presenting something of value.
So when you kneel down and worship, when we say bless the Lord, how do you bless the Lord? By giving him money? No. How do you bless the Lord? by you see that the honor the worship is blessing the Lord.
So when you go down on your knees in worship, as you love him, as you just pour out your heart to him, you are blessing the Lord is the word barak. Yes. So that’s very important. And then it extends to other words like baraka where blessing now.
So generally it has to do with praising and it has to do with stooping down to show respect and in that communicating benevolence in terms of gifts or whatever.
The Greek word for blessing and and there are two of them one is called Eulogia And it’s from two words. It simply means a good word. A good word.
The Greek does a better presentation of what we are looking for.
So the word eulogia means a good word:
- That means a pronouncement that works for your favor.
- A pronouncement that leads to your advancement.
- A pronouncement that brings protection.
- A pronouncement that brings preservation.
So the word Eulogia has to do with declarations. Whilst Barak has to do with worshiping, obeisance and all of that. Eulogia has to do with pronouncements that produce effects, visible evident effects, effects of advancement, effects of blessings.
Now you understand what the Lord did to man. The Bible says, “And God blessed him.” And God blessed him and said to him, “Be fruitful.” It was a divine pronouncement that must produce an effect.
So one Greek word Eulogia has to do with the speakings that produces the evidence whereas another has to do with becoming an embodiment is the word marius.
The word marius there does not just talk about the pronouncement:
- It means living in the evidence.
- Marius means being fortunate.
- Marius means you are being preferred.
- It means privileged.
- It means happy.
- It means spiritually prosperous.
That means you have become an embodiment of the favor. It’s not just the pronouncement that was made on you but you have come as the evidence.
I’m going to break my discussion into three:
- Number one, we are going to be understanding what the Bible calls the blessing of Abraham.
- Number two, we will understand what the Bible calls the blessing. They are not the same.
- Then number three, we will understand what the Bible calls Blessings.
Both God and men can bless men. God can bless men. Genesis 1:28. God blessed man. Both God and men can bless. Blessing is not exclusively reserved to God. Genesis 1:28, “And God blessed them.” God blessed them and said unto them. In Genesis 1:22, he blessed creation. He blessed the fishes and God blessed them. I hope you know that the same blessing.
Most people do not know why the sea, the waters, the air is rich and fruitful. It’s because God blessed them. We focus on Genesis 1:28 and that’s wonderful. But we forget that something happened in Genesis 1:22. If it ever works is because there is a blessing on it.
And God blessed them saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters.” He gave them fruitfulness. He gave them multiplication but he did not give them dominion.
So he said fill the waters and let the birds multiply on the earth. So God blesses creation. God blesses men.
Genesis 24:16 KJV. So Rebecca is about to leave her family. Are we Bible students? Rebecca is leaving her family to go to Isaac. Finally, they found a wife for Isaac called Rebecca. And they blessed Rebecca and said unto her, “Our sister, may you become the mother of thousands and 10,000s.”
May your descendants possess the gates of those who hate them. So God can bless and men can bless. Is it in your Bible that Isaac was about to die? Then he calls his son Esau. He says, “Come, make me venison such as I love. I want to eat that p that venison so that my soul will be delighted and I will bless you and die.” And he Esau leaves to the wilderness to go and catch.
Genesis 27:4-46 KJV
Today, most believers just trivialize it and we generally say, “I am blessed.” But we don’t expect anything to happen in our lives as an advantage. Praise the name of the Lord. But I pray that things will change from this conference. You believe that? Say amen. Amen.
So in the Old Testament, the blessing was an empowerment to prosper. In the Old Testament, the blessing was largely concerned with being empowered to prosper, empowered to advance, empowered to be fruitful and to be preserved.
So throughout the Old Testament, everywhere you see the blessing, it it largely had to do with a priestly and prophetic pronouncement that produced an effect of favor, an effect of fruitfulness.
It was an empowerment that made an individual, any individual whatsoever, to be preserved. It is safe for you to look at the Bible and every expression in the Old Testament of preservation, advancement, etc. It was credited to the blessing.
Now, but something the dynamics of the blessing began to change as we approach the New Testament. In fact, the foundation of it began with father Abraham. Now, we’re delving into the blessing of Abraham.
The blessing of Abraham. I want to discuss the blessing of Abraham. Haven’t laid the foundation just a general understanding.
Now, most times to the average believer and and please by no means don’t find any offense at all.
When we say the blessing of Abraham, here’s what most believers think. Cars, houses, a job, promotion. And they are not necessarily wrong. Except that that’s not really what the Bible calls the blessing. In fact, when the Bible mentions the word blessing, it has nothing to do with material things.
Material things only come as an attestation that you have been blessed.
So when we talk about blessings in the kingdom or the blessing now, I’d like you to take your mind away from a good house, a good car, those things are by their eventual product. You can have all those things without being blessed. Diligence can bring them.
The blessing is higher, greater by far, more superior than any physical or material thing. Even though it does control them.
Now, let’s examine the blessing of Abraham. Isaiah 51:1-2, the blessing of Abraham.
We’ve established a number of things that one the blessings have to do with pronouncements that produce effects effects such as peace, prosperity, happiness, etc. And that God can bless and men can bless. We’re still we’re still working together on that. All right. So, it says, “Harken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord.” It says, “Look unto the rock whence from whence ye were healed and to the hole of the pit when ye were digged.” Verse two, it says, “Look unto Abraham your father.”
The word look unto means understudy. He is the portrait of what I called the blessing or a blessed man. If you want to study what it means to be blessed by God in the Bible, your study is not complete until you do a case study.
Now the way God works is that sometimes in helping us understand him, he will call men and deal with those men in a certain way that they become an embodiment of certain possibilities. So every time you don’t understand what he’s saying, he will refer you to that man.
If we are talking about a blessed man, Abraham is the Bible’s portrait of a blessed man.
If we’re talking about encounters, Jacob His encounter in Genesis 32 is a portrait of what the Bible calls encounter.
If we’re talking wisdom, Solomon, for instance.
So, there are individuals who embody certain spiritual possibilities so that in studying their lives, you can learn the ways of God. So, look onto Abraham. The word look there does not just mean you can’t even find Abraham now. He’s long dead. But he means understudy him. There is a way that I led Abraham and if you follow that path you will eventually arrive an embodiment of a blessed man.
It says I called him alone and blessed him and increased him. So let’s study the life of Abraham to understand what it means to be blessed.
The Bible calls it the blessing of Abraham. Genesis 12:1-3, Genesis 17:6-7 KJV
Genesis 15:1-6 KJV.
The Bible says that God kept proposing to Abraham that he was going to become a father of great nations.
But for some reason and according to scripture, it took Abraham a long time to believe God because Abraham was not interested in having multitudes children as the stars or the seashore. He just needed a child.
He just that all his concern was to have a child and God was proposing something bigger, better, greater and it kept it kept it kept frustrating Abraham and God didn’t seem to get his attention in agreeing on that promise and that covenant and here’s how God helped him.
He called him one night and tells Abraham look at the stars try to count them. Then he will count and then you know lose counting. He says that will that’s the way your seed will be.
Finally, even though he had no child, Abraham believed God. And the Bible says it was credited unto him for righteousness.
Romans chapter 4:1-6 KJV. This is where we thank God for this noble apostle, an apostle of apostles indeed. Begin from verse one.
Paul is explaining, however, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly. Now Paul is telling us that that thing has nothing to do with children. The blessing of Abraham is a mystery that was hidden that Paul now was unveiling to us.
That the what you call the blessing of Abraham is a mystery that acts out how to be justified by faith. To the one who does not work but trust God who justifies the ungodly.
Their faith is credited as righteousness. Verse six, however, David said the same thing when he spoke of the blessedness of the one who God credits righteousness apart from work. Seven, now he said, blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven and whose sins are covered. Final verse, blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.
Paul is teaching us that the issue of stars, the issue of children as your whatever it is to the carnal man, he’s just looking at the story. But Paul is saying there is a deeper mystery in that story. And if all you look at is the story, then you’ve not gotten the revelation that out of that story, the mystery is justification by faith.
How a man will believe God over something your ability cannot produce. And that the moment you believe God, it is credited to you. That was the formula that was used to impart salvation.
So a message comes to believers and even though we do not, it looks impossible, we believe and we receive the blessing of Abraham.
So the blessing of Abraham is not cars, is not houses, it is justification by faith.
Galatians 3:13-15 KJV
How does the blessing of Abraham come upon the Gentiles? because we’re not part of his natural descent. So how are we supposed to receive that? If all he was talking about was physical things, you don’t qualify to inherit anything from Abraham because we are not Jews historically. We are Gentiles.
So that talk should not even affect us. But now he says Christ, he introduces a factor that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us. For it is written, cursed is he that hangs on a tree. And the reason for all of that, verse 14, is that the blessing of Abraham. Replace that expression that justification by faith may come upon the Gentiles through Jesus Christ.
So the next time you hear the blessing of Abraham, what it means is the formula Abraham used to be credited as righteous is the gift we are given. What is the formula? The word comes to you in your mouth and in your heart if you believe it is credited to you.
That you have no power to save yourself. You have no power to lift yourself. But that you can believe in the finished work of Christ, believing that he came as a propreciation for your sin, that he hung upon the tree.
That the verdict is that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. But that you believe that report as frail as you are, not feeling righteous, not feeling worthy like Abraham. If you believe immediately it is credited to you for righteousness.
The blessing of Abraham is not cars. It is not houses. No, the blessing of Abraham is justification by faith. Now, but listen, justification by faith is not the end. It is a means.
You see that it does not end there. So receiving the blessing of Abraham is a passage to go further that leads you to receiving the blessing. Without receiving the blessing of Abraham, you cannot receive the blessing. And if you do not receive the blessing, you cannot have blessings.
So the journey of a blessed man does not start with intellect. It starts with receiving the blessing of Abraham.
It says that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles through Christ Jesus. That we might receive the promise. That already tells you what the blessing is. Yeah. That we might receive the promise of the spirit still through faith. Then he puts a full stop. So the end of that journey is that the blessing of Abraham ushers you into receiving the blessing.
Whilst the blessing in the Old Testament ended with supernatural pronouncements that programmed you towards a life of grace, this one is beyond a pronouncement. is a personality alongside all his possibilities coming to indwell a believer.
The Holy Spirit is called the blessing.
Psalm 133 KJV, Acts 2:1-4 KJV
So Psalm 133 tells us that in that gathering descending from Zion like the Dew of Hermon, God has commanded that the blessing should rest, even life forever more. They about to ask that on the day of Pentecost, never knowing that it was written already. They were gathered in one accord. Suddenly the blessing, not a pronouncement.
No, in the Old Testament, it was a pronouncement. But this time around it was beyond just speaking. It was an embodiment of the speakings of God.
Allos paracleus they call him. He’s a paraclet. Beyond just empowering you to make progress.
The Bible says he rested on each and every one of them. Each and every one of them. And immediately Isaiah 32:15 became a reality that until the spirit of God is poured from upon us from on high, then the wilderness, it’s a spiritual language, shall be counted for a fruitful vine.
3,000 people were saved in one encounter. And from there, there was a movement that has become an unstoppable force today. Praise the name of the Lord.
Galatians chapter 3:26-29 KJV.
Because conviction is built on understanding. It is not what you do that produces power. It’s the understanding that supports what you do.
So that when you tell someone be blessed or you say I am blessed. These are the revelations that frame they are like the bolts that tie your faith. It becomes anchored, unmovable for ye are all children of God. How faith in the similitude of Abraham.
That you had no business even studying everything God told Abraham because it was between him and his seed. Unfortunately, the seed was not Isaac. It was a strategy. If the seed was Isaac, God meant Isaac was one child who came.
So Abraham thought God meant him and Isaac. But Paul came by the spirit and said, “No, I have investigated this spiritually.” The seed was not Isaac. It was Jesus. Because Isaac does not have the capacity to bring everyone into that blessing, but through Christ.
So that the one who is a Jew connected by natural descent and the one who is alienated and the proof that we all came through Christ was in Acts chapter 10 because that was when the salvation of the Gentiles will start until then even the Gentiles did not believe.
I hope you know that everyone who received the Holy Ghost in Acts chapter 2 was a Jew. There was no Gentile there. Now the same Holy Ghost exactly like it happened. And Peter said, “What happened to us Jews has now happened to the Gentiles even without circumcision.” He said, “Truly God is no respector of persons.” This was his verdict.
what he does to the British, he does to the African. You will now see that Christ has become the equalizer of all things. I can be disadvantaged by my natural descent. I can be disadvantaged by my background.
But when I come into Christ, my goodness, the spirit of God in my life has become the advantage, the redefiner of my destiny, the redefiner of my possibilities. You believe that? Shout amen.
But once the blessing of Abraham, once you hear the gospel preach that Jesus loved you, listen. When we go around preaching the gospel is beyond just Christian fanatism, we are bringing people into the blessing.
The only way to come into the blessing is to follow the pattern of Abraham. You hear that report, then you believe. You don’t deserve it, but you believe.
And like faithful Abraham, it is credited immediately. It’s a spiritual fact. Your body may not show it. Your mind may not yet show it, but it’s a reality.
And immediately the Holy Ghost is ready to indwell you.
And you will see that having the blessing is like having a brand new phone. But releasing the blessing, you can have a brand new phone and keep it there forever.
You see what defines our possibilities in life many times is not the love of God because he loves everyone equally but our possibilities are defined by the extent and the depth of our spiritual understanding.
What you understand is what can rewrite your possibilities. So you can find two believers saved but one is taking advantage of these resources that reside in heavenly places in Christ and with that those resources is commanding such dominion.
And to the other one you are wondering God why does it look like you are helping one fellow you are helping one brother you’re helping one sister you are uniquely anointing this man of God and I’m here no it is not the love of Jesus. It is the depth of your understanding.
There are scriptures that have been implanted. They shoot like arrows. You see me minister deliverance to people and do all of these things. The reason is because a man of God is like a midwife. You are helping people through the passage until they get to that state of perfection.
The state of perfection is not to be praying deliverance and to be no. There is a state of victory where the reality of your victory in Christ is seated established. But on your way there we will continue to help you while we teach you.
Some of you by what you are hearing, you will check and find out that certain diseases. I hope you know that Satan fashions attack based on our gaps in knowledge. He does not just attack you. He studies your frame of revelation.
What do you not know that defines the way he attacks you? When Jesus was hungry, how did he attack him? With the matters of food.
So, Satan does not just come and attack you. No, he he profiles your spiritual understanding. Because understanding is light in the spirit. It’s not hidden. To the degree to which you have understanding, we can know in the spirit when we look at you spiritually.
Satan has beguiled many believers to think that the way to walk in the blessing is just to believe that a car will come, favor will come. And there’s nothing wrong with that except that you see we have a more superior expression of the blessing.
They never had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, but they had speakings and he backed that speakings. But for us now beyond just a word, the pronouncement still stands but it is more superior because the Holy Spirit he indwells every single believer.
So that if you never have a chance in your life for someone to make a pronouncement on your life if you are saved and you have the Holy Ghost now the Holy Ghost came to cure the reason why Esau cried.
Esau cried because the pronouncement was limited. It had left the father.
We don’t have to cry. You can’t say I got born again at 40. You are not too late. No. Because he came on 30 people. You are not too late. The issue of Isaac and Jacob was that he could only come on one person. But now in Christ, my brother, my sister, Lester, UK, Canada, everywhere.
One of the reasons for the powerlessness of the body of Christ is that we jump at so many things that we’ve not taken time to build a strong foundation of understanding.
There is no strong doctrinal understanding. So as much as we rejoice, yes, I’m one with Christ, I’m this, there’s no depth of conviction. And so while we girate and jump in church in the realm of the spirit, there is no power to produce an effect.
Revelation is like an electromagnetic, it’s like a sphere. When you come into a place, you also bring your possibilities with you. That’s how it works.
Preachers, learn this. When you come in, it’s not just a message you are bringing. No, you are bringing your cloud, your atmosphere, your possibilities. There are things that have no business happening to people, but because you have come, the Holy Ghost is is is riding through the vehicle of your knowledge and he’s blessing other people.
I show you an example. How many people prayed in the prison and sang? Was it not just two people? But how many people benefited? Paul and Silas alone prayed. It was not everybody who was praying, but at least they did not fight them. But when that shakina came, the Bible said all doors, the jailer was about to kill himself and he said, “No, we are all safe. We’re all safe. We’re not in a hurry to go out. We understand that the will of God is connected to this deliverance. Let’s go to your house. It’s about the salvation.
I am a student of revivals and I’ve studied the move of God for a bit. I know a bit about the move of God. I can tell you the reason why we fail to see the power of God. The reason why the average believer cannot rise to efficiency and stature is because there’s been a compromise on the formula for growth.
Do you know that there are certain foundations if you do not understand you will never really get anything right again in the kingdom.
It matters who mentors you. It matters what they tell you about God. It matters what they tell you about salvation.
This is why we travel around not only ministering to God’s people but strengthening men and women of God to say come let’s sit on the drawing board. Let’s with all humility examine these things.
The powerlessness of the body of Christ is largely the powerlessness of the teachings that come because people are empowered by the words.
The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, but they can also be weapons of mass destruction. Something you can hear in one sermon will make you a powerless believer forever. Something you can hear through one sermon will make you become a mighty person.
So you see, if you really understand the blessing, it should not lead you to just jumping and shouting about cars. He should draw you to the Holy Spirit truly. He is the blessing. Yes sir. He is. He is.
And out of the richness of your fellowship with him comes power, comes wisdom, comes grace, comes favor.
Now there are many people who want favor isolated from the Holy Spirit. They want breakthrough isolated from the Holy Spirit.
Did you see that? If the teaching of the blessing was done correctly, it will produce a generation that is deep in their intimacy with God, not just people who want things.
Because the blessing of Abraham has nothing to do with material expressions. It is a formula. Within that discussion, the conversation between God and Abraham was hidden a mystery that Paul unraveled, that is not about the stars. It’s not about the sun. Is a formula where God justifies the unjust. A formula that leads you to meet the Holy Spirit. Yes.
As mighty as Jesus was and is, he could not do anything until the Holy Spirit came and he said, “I have many things to tell you, to teach you, but ye cannot bear them now. How be it when he the blessing, the spirit of truth.
Now you understand him as an empowerment, but he’s more than a pronouncement.” In the Old Testament, they did not have the possibility of the Holy Spirit indwelling them. he would come and leave. So the psalmist would say, “Cast me not away from your presence and take not your holy spirit from me because he came to rest upon them, perform a task and leave.”
But now to the believer, we have become his habitation. Now he comes to rest, but utilizing his ministry is a separate dynamics that you’ll be learning in the course of this.
So when you say I am blessed, if you mean I have some money in my account, no, no, you didn’t get that right. If you say I am blessed, meaning I have some academic papers before me, well that’s fair, but that’s not really it.
The correct protocol is the depth of your relationship with the Holy Spirit. Then it now translates, “No matter how rich you are, if you do not have the blessing of Abraham, justification by faith, you are not blessed.”
You see that we misuse that word. Blessed means wealth. Blessed means all of that.
But in Bible language, when we say a man is blessed, here’s what we mean:
- The man is saved by hearing the gospel and applying the faith like Abraham did. Now justified in Christ.
- That man has received the person and the ministry of the Holy Spirit and in partnership with the Holy Spirit. He’s now accessing the resources that have been kept for us in heavenly places. The resources of faith, the resources of wisdom, the resources of the word, the resources of power. And with these resources, you begin to play life like a chess. You manifest a level of dominion and power and power and power.
He blessed them by saying, “But this second Adam and the seed that have come from him, he did not bless us by saying, he blessed us by giving.”
He made a pronouncement on the first Adam. But to the second Adam, he went beyond speaking. He gave. He gave.
- Every time you mention the word blessing, see the cross.
- Every time you mention the word blessing, see the spirit of God.
- Every time you mention the word blessing,
- See that you have legitimate access to wisdom, to favor, to defense, to power.
Now, does that mean pronouncements don’t work? No. We will talk about the activation of the blessing because it was while Peter spake. Don’t forget that speaking does not end. But while he speaks, it is more than just oil that comes. It’s the Holy Spirit.
God has given me an assignment through the theme of your conference to help you truly understand the blessing. For some of you, you are both happy and disappointed because you see the idea you came with about the blessing is just to speak upon you that cars should come and houses and you will get all that. Let me tell you, more than it you will get what brings it. Hallelujah.
What you are receiving tonight, listen to me ladies and gentlemen, that’s what the Bible calls true riches. I call it the capital that buys money because money itself is a product and there is something that buys it.
Believers must be grounded. Pastor, thank you for this conference. Believers must be matured.
One of the things I hope you learn in this conference is to go back to the root of your spiritual understanding and begin to investigate the things that you have built your faith upon. Do not be ashamed to start again.
There are many people I tell you sincerely they’re building on shadows. Now I don’t mean to speak against pastors and all of that. I’m all for the body of Christ. But perhaps you were saved and you never had the opportunity to be under a system of structured spiritual guidance to learn doctrine methodically line upon line.
You will be surprised how many pastors do not understand the rudiments of salvation. How then do you talk of the business of power and then to be trusted with God’s program across the nations? No, it takes more than the awareness of his love for you. There are things you must know.
I write these things to you that ye may know. You may know. Hallelujah.
So let me summarize it this way. Outside of the blessing of Abraham that leads you to the blessing, there is no possibility to truly be blessed.
The only one who can say I am blessed is the one who has partaken of the blessing of Abraham and through that has received freely of the blessing. To such a one you can say I am blessed.
So the one who is blessed is not just the one who is rich without Christ. Not the one who is prosperous without Christ. Absolutely, you can get all these things without Christ.
But you see in describing for you the expressions of the blessing hopefully tomorrow you will see the things money cannot buy. He says peace I give you. My peace not as the world gives and then you will bear witness to me by tomorrow how many wealthy people you know who cannot sleep because there is a dimension of peace and joy that is of the Holy Ghost. The ability to laugh through storms. These are things money cannot buy. How about the fruit of the blessing.
No when you encounter the blessing he begins to culture. You see the blessing, the Holy Spirit comes upon you and is likened to olive. He releases something. There’s oil that is released. It’s called the anointing within.
It begins to do a work in you, ladies and gentlemen, to produce that Christlike character. And then because of the presence of the blessing, the Holy Spirit, capacity is given to you to both know the will of God and understand the modal operandi of the kingdom.
Now you can begin to engage the kingdom with intelligence in a way that produces dominion, victory and profit to your Christian experience.
Then you begin to bear fruits 30fold, fruits 60fold, and fruits.
Listen, it is at that level you will lay up wealth, gold like dust.
Most people think God does not prosper, God does not lift, God does not favor. You are joking. You don’t know the God of the Bible.
But what he needs is your heart and your understanding. And then you will see levels of favor that you never imagine. Believe me on this, ladies and gentlemen.
In business, for those of you who are business-oriented, there’s a law in business. We call it different names. We call it the law of attraction. And it’s also a law that has been received in physics, chemistry, you know, Newton’s law of gravitation.
People call it others call it all kinds of things they call human beings. So the law of attraction purports that men exhibit magnetic properties and they say that in relation to wealth and opportunities and they credit it to the cosmic forces. They credit it to Mother Nature.
The concept is not wrong. It is who or what they credit it to that is wrong. It is not the universe. No, there is a God. All blessings come from God.
But here’s the part of it. Allow me for a moment to borrow and draw from the wells of science as I wrap up. Sir Isaac Newton in studying the cosmos and in studying bodies among the many postulations that he came up with was one that we know for those who are science-based as the universal law of gravitation.
And here’s what he said. That every body in the universe attracts every other body, right? Which a force which for any two bodies he says is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
Let me summarize that. It means that everything you are looking for is also looking for you. Hold on. But there is something it is looking for in you.
An instruction has been given creation that the things you look for should only follow you when they find out that certain things are intact. I pray that you find a way of believing this. The Jews understand this.
In physics. There’s what we call the law of resonance. that when you hit a tuning fork at a certain frequency, every other body within its vicinity that is at that frequency will vibrate without being touched. This is how it is.
As you rise in the spirit knowing God, there is literally an energy that comes from you and it begins to resonate with the possibilities that are connected to your destiny.
I really want you to believe this is why a man of God can step into a land all of a sudden a keyboardist comes a guitarist comes a media person comes and you are thinking how did he get them you don’t get them they are attracted by the health of your relationship and listen
The deeper you are with the Holy Ghost the more you exhibit those magnetic properties have you seen how go to the port the seapport.
That’s how you can be. You can grow your relationship with the Holy Ghost to a point where you exhibit such strong magnetic influences not just to heal, not just to prosper. When you step into a territory, is like a sound deep call onto deep, everybody and everything that must partner with your destiny starts to gravitate towards you. It is true.
So the next time you ask, “How shall these things be, seeing that not that I know not a man?” The answer is still what Gabriel told Mary, the Holy Ghost. It will always be him. You can’t take him away. And we’re not just talking of falling down and standing up.
No, we have so underutilized his ministry. Especially Pentecostals and charismatics. We’ve reduced him to some kind of Pentecostal gibberish. We’ve not tapped into the wisdom, the health of that relationship.
You can prove that you are blessed by the dominion that your life commands.
You can prove that you have met Christ.
You can prove the health of your relationship.
Breathe Upon by Apostle Selman
Someone say after me, I’m blessed. I’m blessed. Now you know what you are saying.
Say, I’m blessed. I’m blessed. If you mean I’m rich, you are not wrong. If you mean I’m favored, you’re not wrong. If you mean I go forward, you’re not wrong. to them who are the called according to his purposes.
Say, I am blessed because I’m like a tree that is planted by the riverside. I don’t wither and I bear my fruit in season. Everything I do prosper. Say I’m blessed because I may not see the wind. I may not see rain but by the Holy Ghost my valley shall be filled.
Say I’m blessed because by that energizing I can run through a troop and by my God I can leap over a wall.
Say I’m blessed because I’m a channel of blessing. Everyone’s hand I shake. I’m a transmitter of life. I’m not a burden to my world. I’m a blessing. Say, I’m blessed.
This right here is a theology of the blessing. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus. Hallelujah.
Some of you between tonight and tomorrow, believe me, and I speak to you by the spirit of God. You see, one of the ways to receive from men is to find out whether they are blessed. If they are, then trust what comes from them. Because the Holy Ghost becomes in us a river that flows. And the Bible says it gives life. Ezekiel 47, John 9, it gives life
We spoke about the blessing of Abraham. That’s where it starts. If you ignore the blessing of Abraham, it’s not about the name. It’s about the protocol, the strategy. It was just credited to one man.
The blessing of Abraham does not just mean it is Abraham’s blessing. His name was tied to it in honor to the fact that he obeyed God. He heard God.
The blessing of Abraham is the key. Now I’ve explained it.
You are receiving tonight the blessing of Abraham. You are following that pathway. Thou will show me the path of life. It is in your light. God bless you.
There’s always a new beginning with him.
Let’s them know that they do not have to cry the cry of Esau again. No, it’s in abundance for everyone. Esau cried because it was one pronouncement and it went to Jacob. But today we can rejoice from end to end, from north to south, east and west. Everyone can be a partaker. This is powerful.
Listen, by the mercies of God, I’ve traveled around the world taking this glorious gospel, the wisdom, the life of Jesus. Can I tell you something I’ve learned, pastor? People are not really rebels. Is that they do not understand the gospel. Every time the gospel is presented with intelligence, with clarity, I can tell you this from everywhere. Jesus will always be received if he’s presented properly.
The problem is the presentation. To my brothers and my sisters, those of you who have come, I salute you. Thank you for the courage. I tell you this, Jesus came to give us beyond a religion. He didn’t just come to make us Christians. The word Christian was a testimony from unbelievers. They looked at those who were possessors of the life of God and they had to look for a name to call them. Nothing wrong in being called a Christian. You see, one of the difference between the faith life and every other faith practice I know is that it goes beyond the realm of rituals and proposes to you a relationship.
A relationship that is personal. personal like we said it back home when you go to a habalist or some diver you don’t need a relationship you don’t need to know his name just obey the rules and if he’s to tell you something about your destiny they turn the ball and do whatever and tell you what they tell you and you leave but when you come to Jesus he does not give you things he gives you himself himself is the gift he gives you his life then he gives you access to his spirit it to my brothers and sisters who are here. It doesn’t matter what you have done or what you have not done.
Believes number one, that he loves you. Number two, believes that he has your interest at heart and that he’s demonstrated that by giving Jesus. And that if you believe that report at that instant, like it’ll be happening to you shortly. You may not feel it, but this is an eternal fact that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have life everlasting. I describe for you in one minute what will happen to you as you make this declaration. Eternal life.
The very life of God, not the God kind of life, the very life. It’s supplanted in your human spirit. And the Holy Spirit now has access to dwell within you. He begins to culture you. He begins to lead you. He guides me through the path of righteousness for his name’s sake. One more time, I want to say thank you for the courage. I don’t know you, but I love every single one of you. It always pays to start with Jesus and for some to start a fresh. Let me request that you lift your right hand as a sign of surrender to this Jesus. You imagine, just take me out of the sin and just imagine the lover of your soul, the one who died for you. When he hung upon that cross, it was not the nails that held him. He saw you. You were worth the death. Even if you were the only person on earth, he would still die. What love.
You have trusted things of lesser value with your life, your time. Give him a chance and let him turn you to a sign and a wonder. Say this after me as loud and as clear as you can. And let me speak to someone who is connected online or by television here in Leicester. Jesus is winning, saving, leading, drawing many to himself. I’d like you to join these our precious ones and say this after me. Say, Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus, tonight Tonight I have heard your word. I’ve heard your word. I’ve heard that you love me. I’ve heard I’ve heard that you died for me. And I believe that report. I believe you are the son of God. I believe you died for my sin. I believe you rose again for my justification. Right now I receive Jesus into my heart into my heart as my savior, my lord, as the Holy Ghost. We just talked about him. Remember I told you the justification by faith gives room to the blessing. He’s just given witness to it. Let it not distract you. Say, “From tonight, From tonight, I’m a child of God. I’m a child of God. Washed by the blood of the lamb. I live for Jesus. All the days of my life. Amen. With your hands lifted, I pray for you. Father, thank you for these precious ones. The Bible declares that as many who will come to you, you will in no wise cast away. These ones have come declaring your lordship over their lives. Therefore, I declare at this instant that the power of sin, Satan, hell, the grave, addictions, every kind of thing whatsoever that does not represent the Christ, let it give way right now in the name of Jesus Christ. I call you bonafide recipients of the life of God. And I decree and declare that the joy of salvation is yours from hence. You will live for Jesus all the days of your life. In Jesus matchless name we pray. Now praise the name of the Lord.
Part 2: Re-Defining The Blessing Pt 2 (The Purpose of The Blessing) by Apostle Selman
