The Compelling Christian Life Becoming a Light To The Nations by Apostle Selman
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. — Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)
As the Word comes forth, open your heart with expectation. God’s Word carries light, direction, and power. Tonight, confusion will give way to understanding, and faith will rise within you in the name of Jesus Christ!
Pray: Lift your hands, and give Jesus Christ all the praise and glory!
Pray: The presence of The Lord is here; Go ahead and press, and be lost in His presence!
There are 2 dimensions of worship:
1. Ministering unto God:
• The proof you’re ministering unto God is that there are no requests.
2. Receiving from Him in worship:
• Sometimes when you minister unto him, you will not need to make any request from him because His glory comes with encounters and encounters.
• Ministering unto Him is proof of faith, your acknowledgement of who He is.
Knowledge in the House of God is transferred on two levels:
1. At the dimension of intellect:
Truth is explained, concepts are broken down, and understanding is transmitted. This is knowledge received through the mind.
2. Through spirit-to-spirit communication:
Beyond intellectual understanding, the human spirit is quickened. This is the transmission of spiritual realities that transcends the words being spoken, a spirit-to-spirit communication.
The House of God is a place of:
• Encounters
• Knowledge
• Strength (Psalm 20:2)
• A place of impartation (Acts 2:1)
• A place of discovery and realignment (Colossians 4:12)
The assignment of God’s power is to birth and defend the will and purposes of God in our lives. We enjoy God’s power best when we are at the epicentre of His will.
Three Major Ways We Discern the Will of God:
1. Through the revelation of Scripture
2. The revelatory ministry of The Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10)
3. Through the Prophetic (prophetic channels)
• Channels such as dreams, visions, etc.
“And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.” Isaiah 49:6 (KJV)
When you experience victory and dominion, it purifies your reason for loving God.
When people are perpetually incapacitated, they can begin to use religion as a succour or means of comforting themselves in the midst of their predicament.
Economic, political, and socio-economic emancipation always leads to a decline in people’s pursuit of God, as backed by data. One of the primary reasons for this is a need-driven pursuit of God rather than a love-driven and revelation-based relationship with Him.
If we desire to see souls genuinely saved and established in the faith, we have to re-examine our approach to Christian practice and present a Gospel that produces lasting conviction, not merely temporary dependence.
The Mandate That Has Been Given To Every Believer:
1. The mandate to win souls.
2. The mandate to exercise dominion upon the cosmos (Genesis 1:26–28).
3. The mandate to love.
4. The mandate to be the light and to be salt.
5. The mandate to be fruitful – to let our lives, not just our works, reveal the excellency of the faith life, so that, upon observing the average believer, there should be implications to our view of Jesus, to our knowing Jesus.
The average Believer’s life should be a Bible (living epistle); a personification of all that God is able to do and all that the kingdom connote.
The world will come to understand Jesus and the faith life largely through the quality of our own Christian life or witness. Our lives should reflect the reality, power, and beauty of the Kingdom.
Our lives should be a vista that people can use to capture glimpses of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom.
The Kingdom we represent is a spiritual kingdom, but as Believers, we are part of the physical infrastructure that gives it validity and credibility on the earth.
For many, their understanding of Jesus and the Christian life will be shaped by the quality of our witness. If we reveal Christ inaccurately or in a lopsided manner, we risk misrepresenting Him and causing others to hate or reject the Christian faith based on the witness they see.
Therefore, we must continually upgrade and strengthen our witness until our lives and our witness become such compelling expressions of Christ.
If systems and institutions readily embrace innovations that improve their operations, why does the Christian faith remain a matter of hesitation and debate for many?
This calls for sincere reflection on the potency of our witness and the effectiveness with which we have communicated the reality of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom to the world.
If we are not careful, we may attempt to redefine Christianity instead of rightly representing it. The fear is that people could begin to treat the Christian faith the way obsolete systems like a typewriter are discarded, not because the Gospel has lost its power, but because it has been poorly represented.
One reason for this is that many who profess Christ have not been a good example of what it means to be a Christian holistically.
An imbalanced Christian life that does not capture wholeness and victory not only limits the Believer but also frustrates the efforts to see that Jesus is received or the advancement of the Gospel, which may even foster resistance to the faith.
It’s not enough to say you are a witness.
It’s not enough to chant that you are a witness.
You must understand the implications of being a witness.
Being with Jesus has visible implications.
“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John… they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13 (KJV)
Every time you stand before the world and you wear a shirt that says, “Jesus, I love You,” or a hat, as we do, or a wristband, or you sing that you love Jesus, that in itself is implicating you. This means that every public identification with Christ, whether through your words, your worship, or even the symbols you wear, places a responsibility on you.
Beyond the singing, beyond the identification with the Christian faith, people will look for tangible evidence that validates your claim of having been with Jesus Christ.
“The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.” Luke 6:40 (KJV)
The goal of discipleship is transformation. A believer who has been properly trained should increasingly reflect the character, values, and life of Jesus Christ. Our lives should become a sterling representation of the life of Jesus, the faith life, so that through our witness, men are drawn to Christ and inspired to love the Kingdom He represents.
What Does a Compelling Christian Life Mean?
The word “COMPEL” means forceful. It means deserving of attention.
A compelling life is akin to a force. An entity, a thought, an idea that is able to command attention, and is deserving of investing your time, your energy, and worthy of consideration.
The Believer’s Christian life must move beyond mere religious enthusiasm or fanaticism to a life that so powerfully reflects Christ that it draws people to Him and inspires willing obedience to the Gospel.
SIX (6) PILLARS THAT PRODUCE A COMPELLING CHRISTIAN LIFE
1. The strength of your conviction.
Conviction: The depth of persuasion about God, foundational tenets of the faith, and your persuasion about Christian activities. Conviction tests your authenticity on the strength of your activities.
Your Christian life cannot become compelling until your convictions are strong.
Conviction is the depth of your persuasion about God, your depth of persuasion about the Bible, your depth of persuasion about the authenticity of Christianity as a faith practice.
Your conviction in the Kingdom is a reflection of the extent, the quality, or the truthfulness of your encounters. You cannot be convicted over an encounter you are not sure of.
For the teaching ministry to truly profit our world, it must not only be transformative, but it must also be solution-oriented.
The strength of our conviction is displayed in our willingness to live for Jesus Christ and, if necessary, to lay down our lives for Him. We are not sure of what we believe; that’s why our conviction is not firm.
In teaching and mentoring others, every truth communicated must be hinged on Jesus (His death, burial, and resurrection).
This eliminates any form of vacillation in the followers, even if the human vessel through whom they received the truth later begins to question or depart from the faith.
Christianity Should Be Built on These Pillars:
• A genuine love for Jesus Christ
• A strong understanding of the foundational doctrines that define the Christian faith
Doctrine goes beyond personal revelation.
A Few Tenets of the Faith:
• The Triune nature of God
• The ministry of The Holy Spirit
• The death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ
We must first examine and understand how these doctrines were established; otherwise, we become vulnerable to attacks against the very truths that define our faith. This discernment is only possible through the help of the Holy Spirit.
The average Believer’s witness is often not compelling because we are not sure of the truths we believe.
One thing about God and the spirit of revelation is that when your heart is sincere and you genuinely desire to know the truth, God makes Himself known to you.
A Word of Counsel to Everyone in Ministry
My counsel to you is this: take time to prayerfully invest in sound biblical doctrine and the understanding of God’s Word.
• If you begin ministry simply because the power of God has flowed through your life, you may be disappointed.
• If you begin ministry only because of a vision or a dream you received, you may be disappointed.
• If you begin ministry because someone promised to support or sponsor you, you may encounter challenges.
• If you begin ministry only because of a belief, or that you love Jesus and desire to serve Him, understand that it takes more than that.
Ministry requires more than experiences, opportunities, or good intentions; it requires a strong foundation in truth and sound doctrine.
There is a great treasure awaiting those who will pursue ministry with a proper, accurate, and sound knowledge of doctrine of the faith.
We must never compromise on God, but we must become students of Scripture.
There is such a thing as an Apostolic Christian.
There is such a thing as a prosperous Christian.
There is such a thing as a consecrated Christian.
There is such a thing as a transformed Christian.
There is such a thing as a nation-builder Christian.
There is such a thing as a valuable and productive Christian.
Declare: I receive the truth.
I receive the whole counsel of God!
Pray: In the name of Jesus Christ, Father, search my heart and reveal every area of fear and doubt. Bring the light into every place where fear has taken root. Open my eyes to see, my heart to understand, and strengthen my conviction in You and Your Word.

2. Character
Character transcends cultures. It is a Kingdom virtue that is accepted by all men, even men who do not honor God.
When we say character for the Believer, we talk about the fruit of the Spirit – that your Christian life is captured by character, like the Bible says: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.
The greatest way to look like Jesus is not just to talk like Him, it’s not just to act like Him, it’s to be like Him.
Our lives will only become compelling enough to draw nations to Jesus when we become people of solid character.
Character transcends culture; it transcends race and religion, to an extent that even men who do not name the name of The Lord will see the dexterity of your true character.
Character, in this case, is the fruit of The Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
One of the greatest ways to look like Jesus is to be like Him. Some of the greatest hatred and antagonism have come from within the church, not outside.
Character must be entire and wholesome. The Believer should not be picky when it comes to character; the Believer’s life in its richness and fullness must capture the fruits of The Spirit.

3. Resourcefulness And Productivity
Until the Church becomes resourceful, until our creativity, solutions, and impact are visibly displayed to the world at national, continental, and global levels, the world may struggle to fully embrace the reality of our faith.
Jesus did not wait until He died to start raising the dead. He did not wait until the cross before teaching the Beatitudes. From the moment He began His ministry, there were mighty works. Jesus was resourceful to His generation, not just in performing miracles, but in His ideas and wisdom.
A compelling Christian life must reflect the ability to bring value and solutions to the world around us.
Once it does not look like Jesus Christ, fight it; fight it with the warfare of faith.
Declare: In the name of Jesus Christ, I yield my spirit to the inner work of the Holy Spirit, to produce in me Christ-like character.
I receive the grace to develop a character that transcends culture, background, and my personality – one that reflects the nature, love, and image of Jesus Christ.
Declare: In the name of Jesus Christ, I choose to be a Kingdom father, beyond a cultural father.
I will love my wife.
I will love my children.
I will be responsible.
I choose to reflect the heart, character, and values of God in my family. So help me, God.
Character is universally accepted when it is seen and modeled in a Believer – that we look like and model Christ wholly. People should see Christ in us before they can trace us to a geographical origin.
Our resourcefulness must be rooted in faith, but needed to address life-applicable challenges.
The Christian faith does not produce dummies. It produces men and women whose priority is Jesus Christ, whose wisdom is derived from the Word and the Spirit. and whose influence transcends the church walls.
Our relevance to society must go beyond preaching on Sunday and prayer; it must be demonstrated through our capacity to bring value, solutions, and transformation to the world around us.
The efficiency of priesthood demands a breadth of knowledge so that you can minister effectively to the understanding of an array of people.
In any area of gifting God has entrusted to your care, do your best; the goal is faithfulness, to steward God’s investment in your life, so that you produce a hundred-fold return on God’s investment in your life.
You are truly like Jesus when your life provokes the question: “What manner of man is this?”
That your generation wonders at your level of godlike mastery. That people begin to ask: “What is on you that makes all men seek you?”
As Believers, we must press to be strategic solution providers, bringing Kingdom wisdom, excellence, and value across every sector and level of society.
Koinonia, I pray for you:
Receive grace to do wonders!
Receive grace to break records by the Spirit!
Receive witty inventions by the Spirit!
Receive divine ideas for businesses and enterprises!
Receive financial solutions by the Spirit!
May your lives become expressions of Kingdom wisdom, creativity, and excellence that bring glory to God and impact your generation.

4. Economic Strength.
Economic strength is the capacity to attract, manage, and deploy resources in a way that improves your life and advances the purposes of God’s Kingdom.
It is the capacity to access the resources needed to make steady progress with your life.
Every time there is progress at the personal level, it is called the efficiency of results.
Progress is compelling; it’s a demonstration of the efficiency of results.
The progress of the Believer is beyond a name; it is so that we can shine the light of Christ so brightly and draw others to Jesus Christ.
One way Satan makes people slaves is by ensuring they are not economically emancipated, which hinders progress and restricts their ability to fulfill responsibilities.
Instead of being consumed by complaints about increasing demands and challenges, Believers must seek God for the wisdom, grace, and capacity to create solutions, meet needs, and advance in areas such as providing for families, building resources, and contributing meaningfully to society.
Economic emancipation and financial well-being are important aspects of a Believer’s life.
It is a defender of your integrity, as a Believer.
Declare this with me: In the name of Jesus, and by grace, favor, faith, wisdom, and the power of God, I decree and declare:
My hands shall not lack.
My resources are productive.
I understand and engage the laws that make for abundance.
By faith, I engage them, and they yield results in my life.
When you are empowered, you have the leverage to represent the name of Jesus through what you do. Wealth empowers you to not be sorry for loving Jesus. This is beyond fanaticism.
There have been too much apologies by The Church to the world, for loving Jesus Christ.
Wealth, when aligned with God’s purpose, empowers you to build, create, and influence spheres of society, while branding it with your faith unapologetically towards kingdom advancement.
Prophecy: In the name of Jesus, for someone here, your house will prophetically welcome you into your wealthy place!
No matter how blessed you think you are, receive grace to enter into greater dimensions of abundance, increase, and the fulfilment of God’s promises.
Prophecy: From Pastors to Businessmen, let the wisdom and grace that makes for lasting wealth, let it be released upon you, both online and on-site!
Receive the grace to prosper unapologetically by the hand of God! Prosper in righteousness and reflecting the values of the Kingdom, in the name of Jesus Christ!
Prophecy: I pray for you again – from businessmen to parents, to entrepreneurs, receive the release of wisdom that makes for lasting wealth.
Receive grace for trustworthiness, integrity, and the character required to steward resources according to God’s purpose.
Let the grace that settles the issues of wealth and sustains it be released upon you, in Jesus Christ’s name.
In the name of Jesus Christ, receive the release of the resources needed to serve Jesus and to live comfortably while doing so.
Receive wealth with a mission, resources that empower you to advance God’s Kingdom, impact lives, and fulfill your assignment on earth.
Gaining acceptance and attention from a generation is influence.
Influence is the capacity to compel men and women to buy into your beliefs, values, and ideologies, without using force or cruelty.
Believers need influence. We’ll only be able to reach a generation for Jesus, whose loyalty, acceptance and attention we have commanded.
Prophecy: In the name of Jesus Christ, receive the resources needed to serve Jesus faithfully and to live comfortably while serving Him.
More importantly, receive the grace to steward resources that advance the Kingdom and reveal Jesus to the world.
May God find you faithful with every resource, opportunity, and influence entrusted to you.

5. Gaining acceptance and attention from a generation (Influence).
We’re able to communicate the message of Jesus Christ to a generation whose loyalty, whose acceptance, and whose attention we have secured.
If we desire Jesus Christ to penetrate cultures and difficult places, the Church as a corporate body must rise to higher levels of influence.
Influence is the capacity to compel men and women to buy into your beliefs, your values, and your ideologies, without using force or cruelty.
6. The manifestation of the supernatural.
The supernatural serves as a reminder of the possibilities in Christ.
A display of the anointing defies logic, defies science.
A compelling Christian life carries a compelling presence.
Influence is powerful; it makes Kingdom advancement easier.
I pray for you: the kind of influence you need to lift up the name of Jesus and have the nations receive Him, may God grant it unto you.
Prophecy: In the name of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the Kingdom, may God lift pastors.
May God lift businessmen and women.
May God lift families.
May God lift His people at Koinonia.
May your lifting become a platform for Kingdom advancement, impact, and the revelation of Jesus Christ in the earth, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Influence is a message that reveals the evidence of God’s lifting, especially when people can see the transformation between where you started and where God has brought you.
For example, Reinhard Bonnke was not known primarily for social media expertise nor a professor of theology, yet God’s grace upon his life got him the attention of nations and drew multitudes to the message of Christ.
Likewise, Billy Graham carried a global influence that transcended human qualifications.
When God lifts a person, their influence becomes a testimony of His grace and purpose.
A whole family can encounter salvation in a single day when they witness the undeniable power of God, such as seeing their sick loved one, healed.
We cannot speak of a compelling Christian lifestyle without speaking about the demonstration of God’s power.
Welcome to the era of genuine, Holy Ghost, Apostolic power.
“I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: With whom my hand shall be KoinoniaGlobal mine arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.” Psalm 89:20–24 (KJV)
Pray: I am anointed! By the power of the Holy Spirit, I function supernaturally.
I function by the Spirit, not by human ability, in Jesus Christ’s name.
To be ‘Anointed’ means God is with me. It means His grace is working in and through me.
It means I am empowered to function supernaturally (beyond ordinary limitations) by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Pray: Father, anoint me afresh for this hour and for the journey ahead, in Jesus Christ’s Name.
Lord, trust me with Kingdom influence. Grant me access to the loyalty, attention, and acceptance of a generation.
Give me the wisdom, character, and capacity to steward influence for Your glory, that my life and witness may reveal Jesus Christ and advance the purposes of Your Kingdom.
Pray: Father, I receive the grace to be bold with the Gospel.
The grace to stand for truth without compromise.
The grace to be an anchor for Jesus Christ.
I receive the grace to be an anchor of the Word and a faithful minister of the Holy Spirit.
I receive the grace that sets men apart; the grace that makes men exceptional, in the name of Jesus Christ.
I will not only believe in the Gospel; I will live the Gospel. My life will become a testimony of the reality, power, and beauty of Jesus Christ.
Pray: Father, I receive the grace and power to prosper. As I engage my mind with the Holy Spirit, I am empowered to prosper and to fulfill my purpose.
Father, grant me the grace to attain mastery, to grow in competence and excellence, until I can faithfully serve my gift to my generation.
Pray: Father, I receive the grace to walk in Christ-like character and to manifest the fruit of the Spirit in every area of my life.
Father, give me the grace to be anchored to the foundational truths of the Gospel. Make me unshakable and unbending. Bring me into the Berean dimension of conviction, where I search, understand, and stand firmly upon Your Word, in Jesus Christ’s Name.
Father, trust me with Kingdom influence. Grant me access to the loyalty, attention, and acceptance of a generation. May my life become a compelling witness that reveals Jesus Christ and advances Your Kingdom.

I decree and declare that from today, may your Christian life be compelling. May your life draw many to Jesus Christ, to salvation, to the house of God, and to the reality of the Cross, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Everything required to empower you as an effective witness, receive it this week. Receive good news, receive strength. Be anointed afresh this week, in the name of Jesus Christ.
In the name of Jesus Christ, you will not fail. Every seed of shame, limitation, and shame is driven far from your life.
Your going out is blessed. Your coming in is blessed. Everyone connected to you is blessed for your sake, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Let it be well with you. Let it be well with your family. The work of your hands is blessed. Your ministry is blessed. Your business is blessed. Your children are taught of the Lord, and great is their peace.
This week, the Lord perfects everything that concerns you.
